007 First Light came out on May 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store), and players who pre-ordered a digital edition got 24 hours of early access from May 26, 2026. It reached that date after one delay: IO Interactive first set Mar 27, 2026, then on Dec 23, 2025 moved it two months. The Nintendo Switch 2 version, once due the same day, comes on Mar 18, 2027 after four changes of its own. The exact unlock hour was never published by IOI in anything we found, and the two press reports of it disagree.

When did 007 First Light come out?
The general release was Wednesday, May 27, 2026, for every edition on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Reviews went up the day before, on May 26, which was also the start of early access (OpenCritic, May 26, 2026). The Steam store page lists the release date as May 26, 2026, as of Nov 4, 2026, because Steam shows the day the game first unlocked, the early access day, not a different launch.
How did early access work?
Pre-ordering any digital edition, the Standard included, gave the Deluxe Upgrade and 24-hour early access (Insider Gaming, May 5, 2026). Early access was digital only: the physical editions did not include it, so the Specialist, Collector's and Legacy Editions started on May 27 with everyone else. What time did 007 First Light unlock?
IOI published no unlock hour that we found, and the two press reports disagree:

Steam's own record agrees with MP1st: SteamDB lists Steam's release as May 26, 2026 at 14:00 UTC, which is 3:00 PM BST, read on Nov 4, 2026. Shacknews' time was written three weeks before launch.

MP1st describes the start of early access and Shacknews the full launch, so the days need not conflict. The hours do: 24 hours after MP1st's 7:00 AM Pacific on May 26 is 7:00 AM Pacific on May 27, an hour before Shacknews's 8:00 AM. With the game long out, the difference matters only to the record.

Why was 007 First Light delayed?
IOI's statement of Dec 23, 2025, signed by CEO Hakan Abrak, moved the game from Mar 27 to May 27, 2026 and gave polish as the reason: the extra two months would "further polish and refine the experience", and the game was "fully playable from beginning to end". IOI called it "our most ambitious project to date". Shacknews later linked the move to Grand Theft Auto 6's delay to November; IOI never said so.
A few reports gave the original day as Mar 26 rather than Mar 27. IOI's own delay statement, "two months", and the State of Play coverage point to Mar 27, 2026.
When does 007 First Light come out on Switch 2?
On Mar 18, 2027, IOI announced on Oct 14, 2026, with no unlock hour. The Switch 2 version was due with the others on Mar 27, then May 27, 2026, was split off on Apr 8, 2026 for "later this summer", and was delayed again on Sep 15, 2026 "to March 2027" to work on its performance. A Jul 2026 Amazon Japan listing showed Sep 16, 2026, which MP1st reported as a leak and which never came to anything.
