Ending Explained

Spoiler warning. 007 First Light ends with Sir Nicholas Webb and his son Damien unmasked as the real villains, Greenway dead, M offering Bond the number 001 at his grave and Bond choosing 007, then the gun barrel and the card "James Bond Will Return". No post-credits scene has been reported.

Spoiler warning: this page gives away the whole ending of 007 First Light. The villains are Sir Nicholas Webb and his son Damien, not the rogue agent 009, who was framed and is found dead in Mauritania. Webb dies in Antarctica, Damien falls into the water at MI6 headquarters, Greenway is killed in Vietnam, and at Greenway's grave M offers Bond a place in the 00 program as 001; he prefers 007. The classic gun barrel plays, then the card "James Bond Will Return". No post-credits scene has been reported. The spoiler-free premise is on Story.

Who is the villain in 007 First Light?

Sir Nicholas Webb, chief executive of Webb Industries, and his son Damien. GamingBolt's reading is that Webb, an AI advocate who created MI6's AI THEIA, planned the Slovakia bombing to cover up THEIA's failures, and that his team wrongly marked 009 as the mole. In Antarctica, Bond and Isola reach Webb's HYPERION project; Isola kills Nicholas Webb and tries to escape with the HYPERION core, and Bond stops her while HYPERION is destroyed (Wave of the Future). Damien survives to attack MI6 headquarters in the finale. More on both is on Nicholas Webb.

What happened to 009?

009 was the man MI6 hunted all game, and he was not the traitor. Bond tracks him to Bawma's black market in Mauritania and finds him dead in his cabin, with a case on the Transworld wreck addressed "Here's your evidence, Greenway." (The Past Never Dies). His identity and history are only partly explained: GamingBolt names him but contradicts itself about how he died, so this page leaves the name out until it can be checked.

How does Greenway die?

At The Pearl in Vietnam, after Bond is captured, Greenway arrives as a sniper and helps him chase Damien through a quarry. Greenway dies after the fight, and GamingBolt gives his last words to Bond as "Don't let it change you." His death is what sends Bond rogue in Man of the Hour. See John Greenway.

What happens in the final mission?

In For England, Bond is locked up at MI6 headquarters when a lockdown opens the cells. Damien, in an armored suit, stabs Moneypenny and takes the THEIA core. Q hands Bond a special edition Q-Watch, Bond drives the armed Aston Martin Valhalla through the tunnels, and he wears down the suit with explosives and two sentry turrets before pushing Damien into the water, which disables the suit. Isola arrives to take THEIA, nearly betrays Bond again, then dives in to save him and leaves with the core.

Why is Bond called 007?

At Greenway's grave, M tells Bond the charges against him are dropped and offers him a place in the 00 program as 001; Bond says he would rather be 007. GamingBolt adds that he takes 007 because he was the seventh recruit, and 7 is M's lucky number. The classic Bond theme plays, and the gun barrel sequence closes his induction.

Is there a post-credits scene?

None has been reported as of Nov 4, 2026. Beebom and Into Indie Games describe the gun barrel and the "James Bond Will Return" card before the credits, and neither describes anything after them. That card is a film tradition, not an announcement; see Sequel.

What does the ending leave open?

  • Isola Vale. She posed as Charlotte Roth of the DGSE, and Beebom says she works for a "foreign client, not exactly French intel". Her real name and employer are not given.
  • THEIA's core. Isola leaves with it.
  • Damien Webb. Whether he drowned is not shown.
  • Moneypenny. Her fate after the stabbing is left open, per GamingBolt.
  • "An unseen hand." M speaks of someone "operating in the shadows". Blofeld and his organization from the films are never named; tying the line to them is GamingBolt's speculation, not the game's.
  • The public story. Nicholas Webb gets a public ceremony, and the public never learns what he did.

IOI's Aug 20, 2026 post promised new intelligence about Webb Industries and an "unexpected alliance" between MI6 and Bawma, with no date as of Nov 4, 2026 (Year One Roadmap).
